CASTING all types of Queer, trans, non-binary, + gender nonconforming people for outdoor photo shoot in Manhattan and Brooklyn happening on Saturday, June 22rd. Talent will be paid $150 for up to an hour of work. Exact location and scheduling TBD.
This photoshoot is for a campaign called #WeNeedAButton, demanding that major patient-matching sites include a button indicating that a provider is queer friendly. It’s also a call to doctors to educate themselves on issues relating to queer people, and how they can be better providers to queer patients.
Preference given to talent with true stories about their negative experiences relating to healthcare because of their queerness, and who are passionate about this cause.
Photo content and short interview copy will be used on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Waxoh.com
We’re spreading awareness by harnessing social media and letting people do what they love to do online: show off. Instead of signing a petition, we ask that everyone who is with us post a belfie (a butt selfie) in solidarity, using the hashtag #WeNeedAButton.
The photos taken at the shoot will be used to encourage people to take part in the campaign by taking their own butt pic.
Talent MUST be comfortable with both traditional portraits, and with photos showing off your (clothed) butt like the the photo example.
1. SEND AN EMAIL to WeNeedAButtonCasting@gmail.com.
Put your first and last name in the subject line .
2. Include a few natural non-professional photos of yourself, contact info, availability Saturday June 22rd,
3. and finally a few sentences on why this campaign speaks to you. For example: have you ever been afraid to see a doctor because you were unsure if they would respect your identity, pronouns, or relationships? Have you ever felt discriminated or disrespected in a doctor’s office because of your identity, pronouns, or relationships? Do you think it’s important to know – in advance - that your doctor or any other medical professional will be up to speed on issues affecting queer people? #pridemonth #nycpride #lgbtqnyc #richardjordancasting #realpeople #brooklyn
